Background[]

The Simpsons is the longest running animated comedy series of all time, debuting in 1989 and is slated to continue its run until at least the year 2021. The show is set in the fictional town of Springfield, where the majority of its residents are yellow-skinned and have four fingers on each hand. It is named after the Simpsons family of the husband and wife team of Homer and Marge and their three children of Lisa (smart), Bart (below average student and troublemaker) and baby Maggie, plus many other characters and events that are intertwined with their lives are also showcased.

The local Springfield Mall contains many shops, along with Captain Blip's Zapateria. It was shown during the "Please Homer, Don't Hammer 'Em" episode.

Episode[]

The Simpsons visit the Springfield Mall, which used to be prosperous, although it has since become mostly abandoned (ever since the mayor's father was murdered there), having trash and slime all over the place, along with there being not many stores or goods left.

Upon visiting a book store, Homer buys an encyclopedia set in regards to home repairs, but ends up not using them. Marge starts with a couple of fixing jobs around the house, then builds up to birdhouses and even a new bed. Coaxed by Lisa, she starts her own business, but no one in town wants to hire a female contractor, so Homer covers for her. Unfortunately Marge takes offense after a while when he takes all the credit, leading to his downfall and admittance at the end that Marge actually did all the work.

Meanwhile Bart discovers who at his school has a peanut allergy and uses it to his advantage.

The arcade/known games[]

Like the Springfield Mall, the arcade is in disarray and has slime on its walls and trash strewn about. Bart complained about how old the games were and if pilgrims were the ones who left high scores on them.

All games are fictitious.

  • Click Clack
  • Devil's Advocate
  • Polybius
  • Remington Steele the Game
  • Rocky III vs. Clara Peller
  • Triangle Wars
  • Unipede
  • Pinball games (2)

Trivia[]

  • The episode first aired in 2006. This was the only time the arcade was ever shown during the series (as of 2019) and it can be assumed that, with the nature of the crumbling Springfield Mall, later closed.
  • Polybius is seen in the arcade, which is believed to be an urban legend that never existed, only being tested out in a few arcades in the United States where men in black would collect data from the machine, which caused some players to have nightmares and gave up video games for the rest of their lives. This story became so well known that it made appearances in the Challenge Arcade on fellow tv series The Goldbergs episode of "The Age of Darkness" and in the Lone Star Arcade in the online The Shadow Realms Arcade video game.
  • Sounds from the real-life video game of Centipede are heard, yet a clone game of Unipede is present in the arcade instead. Triangle Wars looks like the real life game of Asteroids but has sounds similar to Space Invaders.
  • Other arcades (along with those residing in entertainment centers) have been mentioned and/or shown on the series over the years, including Wall E. Weasel's, Family Fun Center, Elm Street Video Arcade, Testoster-Zone, Zip Zap and 'Za Pizza Arcade, and the most prominent one of all, Noise Land Video Arcade, which also was seen briefly in The Simpsons movie. It also had Triangle Wars as well.

This arcade was featured in May, 2019.
