Background[]
Crestwood Plaza was a shopping mall located at 109 Crestwood Plaza in Crestwood, Missouri that opened in 1957.[1] It was the first major mall in the St. Louis area, having various stores, art galleries and studios. The mall would close in July, 2013, followed by its demolition beginning in 2016 through 2017 and then redeveloped into other businesses and housing.
Exhilarama was an entertainment facilities chain run by Edison Brothers Mall Entertainment (EBME) that usually had various rides, laser tag, a snack bar, prize redemption area, party facilities and an arcade included in its setup. EBME already owned the Atari Adventure arcades and operated the one at Crestwood Plaza. In 1992 this location was renovated into a prototype Exhilarama. After further development, the full Exhilarama experience (their second store) opened at Crestwood Plaza January 4, 1993[2]. Its games ran on tokens. This location was designed by local architectural and engineering firm Etegra and themed by Spinnaker Design Collective.
After the failure of Edison Brothers, this Exhilarama was taken over (possibly in 1996) by Nickels and Dimes and renamed Tilt.
For a brief period was also named Millennium.
