The Royal Coach Inn (later known as Dunfey's Royal Coach) is a motor inn that had been located on 3800 W. Northwest Highway in Dallas, Texas. The site has since been razed and redeveloped into a business park which includes an Embassy Suites by Hilton hotel tower.
Background[]
The hotel was originally established in the 1960s as part of the Royal Coach Inn chain and was later operated by Dunfey Hotels.[1] This location had hundreds of rooms available for rent, along with a pool (accessible to non-staying guests through annual memberships), a Tingles bar, and an arcade.
Because of its proximity to Dallas Love Field airport, the hotel premises was used by Braniff for staff training in the 1970s.[2] The cast and crew of the 1978 Dallas television series stayed here during on-location shooting of the second season.[3][4]
A digital re-creation of the exterior of the hotel was featured in the 2023 HBO Max miniseries Love & Death.[5]
The arcade[]
The hotel is thought to have had an arcade while operating as Dunfey's Royal Coach.
