Tilt Studio Monroe is a family entertainment center operating at the Pecanland Mall in Monroe, Louisiana.

Background[]

Tilt is a chain of video arcades found inside various shopping malls in the United States, from California to New York.

The Pecanland Mall is the second major indoor shopping center built in Monroe, Louisiana. Opening its doors on July 24, 1985, it would soon surpass its main competition, the older and much smaller Twin City Mall, which would eventually be driven out of business.[1]

History[]

The Pecanland Mall originally featured a Gold Mine arcade that opened on September 1, 1985.[2] This was followed by two other arcades: the Fun Zone, which featured numerous games and rides, would prove to be extremely short-lived, closing after only a couple years (see Trivia). The other, Tilt, remained a fixture of the Food Court for nearly three decades, until abruptly closing its doors in April 2012.

The arcade reopened as Tilt Studio in 2019, with a soft opening on August 30th, followed by an official grand opening on September 1st. The 60,000 square-foot facility includes a laser tag arena, mini bowling, black light mini-golf, bumper cars, a prize redemption center, and a snack bar.[3] This may have been a factor in the closing of the Chuck E. Cheese nearby in August 2024.

  • CarnEvil

Trivia[]

  • The Tilt arcade offers tickets that can be redeemed for prizes, similar to Chuck E. Cheese.
  • During the latter half of its original operation, from the mid '90s until it closed in 2012, all games accepted regular quarters.
  • Information regarding the Fun Zone is scant and speculative at best; it is entirely possible Tilt was not around when the Fun Zone was, and only arrived later.
